A period is a gift from Mother Nature, telling womxn that receive them that their bodies are working. Leading Light Collective created a digital series written and performed by a range of womxn from all shapes, sizes, colours and nationalities which gave audience members an insight of the famous taboo in all its glory. A PERIOD. Why? Because period talk needs to be normalised. Statistics have shown that 25 young womxn regularly miss school because of their periods, 10% can’t afford their period products, 60% were ashamed of their periods and won’t buy period products in public and 1 in 10 girls can’t afford to buy menstrual products, while 1 in 7 have struggled to afford them.
